Dr. Jerry Diamond is Vice President and a Director of risk assessment and ecotoxicology at Tetra Tech with over 30 years of experience in aquatic toxicology, bioassays, ecological and human health risk assessments, aquatic ecology, and design and interpretation of ecological and water quality assessments.  He also oversees Tetra Tech's nationally accredited Ecological Testing Facility in Baltimore, MD, specializing in bioassays, toxicology/fate and bioaccumulation evaluations of chemicals, aquatic, soil, and sediment toxicity under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), OECD, REACH, and NPDES, and toxicity identification evaluations of treated wastewater effluents. He has developed and managed over 300 environmental assessments involving a variety of commercial applications including oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, mining, food processing, textiles, and chemical manufacturing.  Dr. Diamond has served as an invited expert for several US EPA-sponsored panels and workshops regarding risk assessment methodologies and state of the science for contaminants of emerging concern such as perfluorinated substances (PFAS), 1,4, dioxane, pharmaceuticals, current pesticides, and flame retardants.  He has developed and presented several publications for the Water Research Foundation and others on determining risks of emerging contaminants and identifying key areas of uncertainty and knowledge gaps. He has also served as a water quality and toxicology expert for other governments including assessments of oil and gas platform discharges for Thailand’s Ministry of the Environment, toxicity and trophic food web assessments of oil and gas discharges for Petrobras Brazil, formulation of industrial effluent water quality guidelines for Japan’s Ministry of the Environment, and water quality criteria for Environment Canada.  Dr. Diamond has been an invited peer reviewer for EPA and other agencies, and he is an Editor of Aquatic Toxicology for the international journal Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. Dr. Diamond serves on peer review panels for other journals, EPA’s Office of Research and Development, National Science Foundation, and other institutions.
